Magic in Voleros

Updated to include more information!

Magic DOES exist in Voleros. However, the Gijinka use it with caution.

Gijinka are only able to use one or two spells.... and when they DO use them, the force of the magic from their body shortens their lifespan. Magic itself comes directly from a Gijinka's soul, and using any type of magic excessively can sometimes cause unconsciousness or even a temporary coma.

Since magic comes from the soul, the more magic that's used directly results in the soul being drained away. Once the soul is completely depleted, the body dies soon after within a few days, in a similar way to starvation. The body would wither away without the soul to power it, and it is considered a slow and painful way to die.

The rate of this magical drain effecting a Gijinka's health depends on how often they use it. If a gijinka was to use a bit of magic every day, then chances are that they would not live to see their early twenties.

Due to this, only very few Gijinka dare to use magic. If you are planning on making a winged character, for example, and you wish them to be able to alter their wings size at will, then they CAN use magic.... however they will suffer from magical drain if it is used in excess. Some Gijinka species have higher tolerance to magical drain than others. Every species suffer from it of course, but some are able to last a couple years longer if used in excess.

Gods are also effected by magical drain, but since their soul is eternal, they cannot die from it. But they will still suffer from exhaustion and temporary coma's if they use too much magic without giving their soul a chance to replenish itself.

Okay, I don't know if this question has been asked yet (did not find in this journal, so...), but I thought I might as well ask it here.

So, hypothetically, I design a character who is somewhat like a seer, or an oracle of some kind (have visions, hear the voice of their god, stuff like that). If their god send them a message as a voice, or a dream/vision, does that count as magic? Even though the character saw the vision or heard the voice at random (not by choice; did not choose to see/hear them)?

Just curious because I want to design someone like that (AFTER I get the mod's permission to use said star mother, of course). Whether or not it counts as magic does not bother me, I just wanted to confirm so that i won't get turned down at the next opening for incorrect description or whatever...

Sorry for long description... ^^;
